The Mercedes-Benz OM642 engine is a 3.0 Liter, 72° 24-valve, aluminum block V6 engine, featuring Common rail fuel injection and a variable nozzle turbocharger. The injection system operates at 1600 bar (23,200 psi), while intake air is compressed at a ratio of 18:1. Mercedes' BlueTEC ammonia injection is utilised for NOx reduction and a particulate filter lowers soot, making this engine ULEV certified. Engine mass is 208kg (459 lb). Power output is 165 kW (221 hp), 510 N-m (376 lb-ft) of torque.
