The Mercedes-Benz W219 automobiles began production in 2005. The platform is based on the W211 E-Class. It was sold as the CLS-Class "4-door coupe", although the bodystyle is properly termed a 4-door sedan, similar to the fastback sedan designs created by Robert Opron in the 1970's.

The car has a dieselengine with 165kW/224hp in Europe and three petrolengines:

  • CLS 350 CGI (3498ccm; 215kW/292hp; 365Nm) (petrol direct injection)
  • CLS 500 (5561ccm; 285kW/388hp; 530Nm)
  • CLS 63 AMG (6208ccm; 378kW/514hp; 630Nm)

Old engines: CLS 350 (3,5l; 200kW/272hp; 350Nm), CLS 500 (5,0l; 225kW/306hp; 460Nm), CLS 55 AMG (5,4l; 350kW/476hp; 700Nm)
